Frequently asked questions about family reunification
The most common questions concern documents, income conditions, waiting times and procedures for bringing family members to Poland.

What conditions must be fulfilled to benefit from family reunification?
The conditions depend on the status of the person living in Poland, the relation and the chosen legal basis. In certain cases, income, insurance and residence are examined, but the rules provide for different rules and exceptions.
What documents are needed for family reunification?
Documents usually need to confirm the family relationship and residence status and, depending on the legal basis, income, insurance and place of residence. A foreign document may require legalisation or an apostille and translation into Polish.
How long does the family reunion procedure take?
The time depends on the procedure, completeness of documents, the actions of the authority and possible entry procedure. We do not guarantee the date of the decision; before starting we explain the stages specific to the family.
Can a family member work after arriving in Poland?
The right to work depends on the type of residence permit and the status of a family member. Work should not be started solely on the basis of kinship or submission of an application without checking a specific entitlement.
Is it possible to apply if the spouse is abroad?
In some proceedings, a person residing in Poland may apply on behalf of a family member who is abroad, with his written consent. The requirements of personal appearance, fingerprints and entry into Poland must be checked separately.
How we work on family reunification
